The Amity Law School (ALS) is dedicated to provide a transformative legal education by bridging the gap between theoretical legal principles and their high-impact application in governance, commerce, and social justice. The research landscape at ALS is designed to be interdisciplinary and socially relevant, engaging with contemporary legal challenges through the following thematic areas:
Research into the dynamic interpretation of the Constitution, focusing on the balance of power, fundamental rights, directive principles, and the accountability of the state. This includes analysing administrative decision-making, judicial review, and the evolving relationship between the citizen and the state.
Investigation into the legal frameworks governing business entities, financial markets, and commercial transactions. Key areas include corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, the insolvency and bankruptcy code, competition law, securities regulation, and the legal challenges of e-commerce and start-ups.
Critical analysis of substantive and procedural criminal law and other laws. This area explores the causes of crime, the effectiveness of the criminal justice system (police, judiciary, prisons), victimology, penology, and emerging areas like cybercrime, forensic evidence, and white-collar crime.
Examination of public international law, including human rights, humanitarian law, international environmental law, and the law of the sea. Research also focuses on international trade law (WTO), international investment law, and the role of international institutions in a globalised world.
