Amity School of Chemical Sciences

The Amity School of Chemical Sciences is dedicated to advancing knowledge through excellence in chemical education, research, and innovation. The School provides a dynamic academic environment where students develop a rigorous understanding of chemical principles while engaging with contemporary scientific challenges in human health, sustainable energy, advanced materials, and environmental sustainability. By fostering scientific curiosity, analytical thinking, and creativity, the School seeks to prepare future scientists capable of contributing to both fundamental discoveries and technological innovation.

The School currently offers M.Sc. Chemistry (Honours) and Ph.D. programmes designed to combine strong theoretical foundations with intensive laboratory training and research experience. In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the curriculum emphasizes interdisciplinary learning, flexibility in course selection, experiential education, and research-led teaching. Students are encouraged to engage in independent inquiry, problem-solving, and collaborative learning, enabling them to develop the knowledge and professional skills required for careers in academia, research institutions, industry, and entrepreneurship.

Research forms a central pillar of the School’s academic mission. Faculty members are actively engaged in cutting-edge research across diverse areas of chemical sciences, including organic synthesis, medicinal and pharmaceutical chemistry, nanoscience and nanotechnology, advanced functional materials, polymer science, biopharmaceutical research, analytical chemistry, and renewable energy technologies. These research programmes address contemporary scientific and societal challenges while creating opportunities for students and scholars to participate in impactful investigations at the frontiers of chemistry.

A distinctive strength of the School is its commitment to sustainable chemistry and circular economy principles. Ongoing research focuses on developing environmentally responsible technologies for green synthesis, resource recovery, waste valorization, clean energy generation, advanced materials development, and sustainable industrial processes. Through these efforts, the School contributes to national and global initiatives aimed at achieving long-term environmental sustainability and responsible resource management.

The School hosts several externally funded research projects supported by prestigious national and international funding agencies, including the Department of Science and Technology (DST), the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) and the International Foundation for Science (IFS), Sweden. These projects provide a vibrant research ecosystem where students and scholars gain exposure to advanced instrumentation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and globally relevant scientific problems.

Beyond academics and research, the School actively promotes collaborations with industry, research laboratories, and international institutions. Such partnerships facilitate knowledge exchange, collaborative research, internships, and exposure to emerging scientific developments worldwide. Through seminars, workshops, conferences, and research training initiatives, students are encouraged to engage with the broader scientific community and develop a global perspective on chemical sciences.

Guided by a vision of scientific excellence and societal impact, the Amity School of Chemical Sciences strives to nurture a new generation of chemists, researchers, and innovators who can contribute meaningfully to scientific advancement, sustainable development, and the creation of technologies that improve quality of life.
